21/01/2010 (Rosie): Snow Flake Mittens

Many of my talents, I inherited from my mother: math skills, chicken cooking skills, language skills. One thing she didn't pass on were her knitting skills. While she has knitted up socks, leg warmers, and mittens, I have been stuck on the same leg warmer for almost a year. Her lasted project was completed last night, and I wore them today:

Other than that, today was an ordinary day (read: emotional roller coaster ride).

21/01/2010 (Mark): Boring into boredom

Today was the first in many days that wasn't super full and with lots of excitement. Which is great, because I had homework. Unfortunately, I FELT like adventure today, so I didn't, much... I had class, did some reading, answered some study questions, went to a Strax meeting and eventually went out for a photography walk after the sun was thoroughly down. Which wasn't as long as I would have liked, as the batteries started to die pretty quick. I like Lithium ion cameras better, thanks. But anyway, here's one of the pics:

I'm at Allen's now, things seem like things might get interesting yet.

20/01/2010 (Findlay) : Colourless Monolith

I had an art project due today. So I made this nifty monolith. The professor thought it was pretty awesome, and I'm glad. It had to use a point from something called the "Minus 12". I did "Uselessness: Monoliths without colour."

I had a really good day, for the most part. I was REALLY hyper after art, for some reason. I think I had a lot of nervousness about my art class that I let out just afterward. However, in Criminology we watched a really sad presentation, and my giddiness wasn't so fun. I'll live though.

I also got permission from my History teacher to do a Graphic Novel for my history class final presentation. Wish me luck, please, I start on it tomorrow.

20/01/2010 (Mark): Poetry?

I'm kinda tired, so I won't go into my day in general. It was another full day though. I ended up tagging along with Frances and Meredith to a poetry workshop thing which didn't really have much in the way of poetry. Still, there were dogs, Ariel was there, and it was interesting. We did this thing that I'll probably post on my blog at some point. Here's a picture:

20/01/2010 (Rosie): Goodbye Blue Sky

As I was standing at the bus stop this morning contemplating how rude some people are, I happened to look up and notice that the sky went from cloudy to blue right above my head.

I could go on and on about the symbolism behind the clouds and blue sky and all that, but I'm not going to. I'm just going to put up this picture and let you make of it what you will.

~Rosie
(Side note: The clouds were moving towards us, and when I got home, it was snowing. Big, fat flakes of snow that land on your eyelashes snowing. That made me happy.)

(Side note 2: I'm really proud because I finally figured out how to use the manual white balance on my camera. I felt like such a n00b when I found out though. After all, I've only had the camera for over a year!)

19/01/2010 (Mark) : Strax and lazyart

So I followed Fin to Strax after he mentioned it and it was great fun. I look forward to it, it's fun. I was the only one with no piercings and I felt a little excluded there, but I figure I'll make up for it with dying my hair purple. After Strax I came to Fin's and made my art project: a cardboard box with sticky notes on it to the theme of militant laziness. I put a fair amount of effort into appearing as lazy as possible. The rest of the day I was tired, but learned and had fun.

I asked the members of Strax to gather up so I could photograph them, they thought I was a conservative spy :P

19/01/2010 (Findlay) : Strax and Monoliths

Tuesdays are usually very slow for me. Today was mostly the same, except for going up to Campus for the Strax open meeting. Strax is a student body organization that fights for social justice and all that fun stuff. My friend Mark and I went and became supporters. Interestingly enough, we were the only real people who DID go to the meeting.

Their recruitment posters have a habit of being torn down by other students 20 minutes after they go up for some reason.

I also worked on an art project, "Monoliths without colour" - It's a 2 foot tall black rectangle on a small base. It's what I spent most of my other time working on today.

The picture was from the walk back with Mark. I borrowed his camera as I have a habit of forgetting mine.

Happy Tuesdays,

19/01/2010 (Rosie): Evil Baby's Head

Today was intense. I was in evaluations of one type or another all day, and I had a terrible cold. The cold was cured by a few little orange pills, a glass of orange juice, and some tea, but there was nothing I could do to make the test, presentation, exam, and project go away. So by the time I got home, I wanted nothing more than to collapse in bed and sleep until summer vacation, or march break at the very least.

I made myself get out my camera though, and decided to set my camera up in front of the wood stove and play around with shutter speed a bit. I'm not sure what I was going for, mostly I just wanted to get to know my camera better, but I'm fairly happy with how this one turned out.

Ok, so there is an evil baby's head in the fireplace, but I feel like it portrays the intensity of the heat well. That may just be because I'm sitting about a meter away from the fire, but I like to think that it's the picture.

18/01/2010 (Mark): Frustration and glory

Today was another wondrous day at STU, especially after Philosophy. My attempts at a photo was the one bad aspect of my day however, as my plans were continuously foiled. Originally I had intended to take a picture in Global Politics which had some of our row of friendship. However, I forgot my camera. Then later, remembering interesting pictures I took not long before I joined this blog, I decided to try some stuff involving reflection. This is one of the old ones.

The idea failed, and I had immense trouble trying to focus my camera right. I still have the problem and I don't know why. Anyway, I gave up and instead looked at a little figurine I got in Europe and broke yesterday. After which, I decided I like better this way. Here's the picture, positioned so you can't see the porcelain.

18/01/2010 (Rosie): Banana Split and Two Nail Polishes

So, while Findlay has been taking amazing photos, and Mark has been getting started on the project, I almost forgot to take a picture today. Why? Because they just started a new semester (Well, Findlay did, I don't know about Mark.) but I am rushing towards exams at a breakneck speed, and I can't seem to force myself to study. This is causing me quite a bit of worry, since I usually over study. It's not for lack of trying, but I have so much to study for that I can't concentrate.

Anyways, the result of my impending exams is that my usually very neat and tidy desk now looks like this:
If you look closely, you could find: shirts, hair elastics, three tea cups, two nail polishes, my agenda, countless sheets of looseleaf, the package my gorillapod came in, a medicinal banana split, three empty tea cups, the majority of my makeup collection, my iPod (rescued from under a sleeping husky), hand cream, a little bottle of paint, a pen knife, a tub of leather cream, a small part of my cat ears, the bottom half of a microscope, and of course my MacBook Pro.

And I wonder why I never get anything done...

17&18/01/2010 (Findlay): Double post

My internet has a horrible habit of randomly shutting off. It did this as I uploaded the picture and went to bed. Yesterday, this meant that my post didn't appear.
Silly Internet.

Anyway, Sunday was a super relaxed day. Some school readings, movies, kicking around with dominic. Very slack, very nice.

Today was a school day, so I had to do things, but I do love doing things. I may be able to do a graphic novel as my final project for history. I really hope I'm able to, as I want to do one on Suleiman's attempted invasion of Vienna. I just think that'd be neat.

Today's pictures (and yesterday's) involving odd lighting and stuff like that. Well, lighting effects.

17/01/2010 (Mark): Yay!

So I'm officially joining the project. It won't be the full year, but it should still be pretty super special awesome. I look forward to it! Anyway, I took a picture for yesterday but couldn't actually post it until today. So there'll be two posts today.

Yesterday was a pretty good day, minus the not doing enough homework. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an awesome movie. Towards the end of the day I made plans to hang out with Ariel today, and I was super paranoid about forgetting so I did this to remind me of the time. The messiness of my room is in the background :P

EDIT: By the way, if any of you become interested at some point, my other blog (Basically just an idea journal) is http://myarbitrarilyreigningking.blogspot.com/

17/01/2010 (Rosie): Nail-y Tree

Today, I was procrastinating. I DIDN'T want to study. So I went for a walk. When I go for a walk, I always take three things: 1. Cell phone (I never go anywhere without it), 2. camera (it too comes everywhere), and 3. My Gorrilapod, Spider Monkey. (I never have models/friends to practise taking pictures of, so I take pictures of myself). I then walk briskly until I feel I have taken a good amount of pictures. This varies depending on how cold it is, how tired I am, how hungry I am, and how good the lighting is. Today I walked quite aways before I felt that I had found something awesome, and then I found a tree. It was dead, and the top bit had vanished, but it was completely filled with nails. See:
I have no idea why it was there, or what it was exactly, but it was pretty cool.

16/01/2010 (Findlay) : Full Days

Today was one of those super full days where you talk about the day and realize: Hey! That seems like it was so long ago. Of course, it actually only happened three or four hours before.

This morning I woke up, and had breakfast. Some friends had stayed the night, and there was overcrowding, so the beds were given out, and as I was the good host I took the hardwood floor. I actually slept REALLY well. It was nice.

Then we had breakfast and talked. We played Settlers of Catan, Lisa made lunch, we played dutch blitz, people were all over the place. Then Meredith and Caleb left, and then eventually Mark and Lisa. Then our old roommate Beki dropped by and brought some friends, and we talked for a bit. Then! (Yes! the day continues,) Dominic and I watched some movies, and I made some late dinner (Chicken, I really like cooking Chicken). Then we hung out and talked and had a good time.

It was a good day.

Explaination of this picture :

At one point, both Meredith and Lisa decided they needed to get clean. So after Meredith takes a veerrryy long shower, Lisa goes in. There is no hot water left.

So! Using two pots and the kettle, we filled the bathtub with hot water over a 20 minute period. I felt positively pioneer. I missed not having a fire and a large black Cauldron, but one can't have everything one wishes for.

16/01/2010 (Rosie): Meet Strider

Lovely readers, meet Strider*. He is an 11 month old eurohound, a cross between a husky and a german short haired pointer. His favourite hobby is skijoring (like dog sledding but on skis), and he quite fast. He doesn't understand why the humans put on so much clothing, but he thought he would try on mummy's buff, to see what all the fuss is about.

~Rosie

*We named him Strider because my mummy and I both think that Aragorn is awesome, but it's a bit strange as a name for a dog.

15/01/2010 (Findlay): Note to Self: this is why you don't drink

Today I had classes and all that.
I worked on this painting.

Then friends came over, and after a lovely and long and sometimes hard night I remember why I don't drink.
Have a good weekend everyone.
(p.s. I didn't drink, and that's why I am thankful)

15/01/2010 (Rosie): Mummy Magic

Today, well, yesterday too, anyways, today, I discovered that mummy magic really does exist. Last night I was sitting here catching up with the world, when my mummy announced that she had just taken a batch of chocolate chip bars out of the oven.

This may not sound spectacular, but my day had been craptastic up until then. So I ate several (I'm a total emotional eater). Then I lay on the floor with my dog laughing for about an hour, leading my parents to question my position as oldest-daughter-who-can-do-no-wrong-and-never-does-anything-bad-like-skipping-school-to-experiment-with-substances. Had anyone but my mother made the squares, I would have asked what was in them, but I'm pretty sure my mum hasn't gone near any hash since she was my age, and that was quite a while ago, so I have to concluded that mummy magic is the source of the extreme happiness.

I was more careful with the squares today, since people tend to find it strange when a person is sitting somewhere alone laughing incessantly, but I did have one on the bus to cheer me up, since bus rides have become rather depressing.

It may look ordinary, but I swear, it's MAGIC!

14 January, 2010

14/01/2010 (Findlay): Innovation.

NEFARIOUS ACTS.

-

that's all I have to say about this photo.

I had a nice day today! I had taken a picture of my history teacher, but this turned out a lot nicer, and sums up the nice parts of the second half of my day.

I woke up at 9 to go have a meeting with my History professor, where I had a good hour long chat, and found that my mark had been wrongly calculated, so I got points for that. I also found out that for my final paper I am going to have leeway to use illustrations or oral parts on the essay. That's pretty nice.

Then me and Dominic hung out, and we ended up playing a bit of magic. I also got my 100$ Poli sci. textbook. Ugh. Textbooks are expensive. I got a deal on another book though and saved some money because of it. :D

good day in all.

14/01/2010 (Rosie): Nap Time Reinstated

Today was mediocre. It was in fact, one of a long string of mediocre days. Which is bugging me, since I rarely have mediocre days. I have AMAZING days, or FANTABULOUS days. The main reason for the mediocrity of my life of late is the fact that on January 26th and 27th, I have my exams. And I have one in class next week. So I'm worried about those. But no matter how hard I try, I can't force myself to start studying.

I sit down with my notes every evening, and invariably get distracted. Today I was attempting to study for science.

I was attempting redemption, since I fell asleep for about half of science class today. I woke up when one of my classmates threw a heavy magnet across the class, and it landed with a crash about two feet away from me. I'm glad I did though, I woke up just in time for another classmate to suggest that nap time should be reinstated into the school system.

The day got better after that, since in French class I had a deep conversation with two guys I'd never really talked to before, by the end of which we decided to become anarchists. The conversation started with the language spoken by Charlemagne. Feel free to try to figure out how we got from him to anarchy.

~Rosie

13/01/2010 (Findlay): Busy Day and a Great mark.

I had my first super busy day today. I woke up at 11:11, and had to run to class, and I didn't get back from school until 10:00 P.Mish. It was good however. I spent time in class with friends, and I really enjoy my classes. The only thing I don't love is my Ex-girlfriends cousin is in my art class, I will live however.

The single best moment of my day may have came after Criminology. I got a paper back that I worked really hard for, and I got an A+, or 23/25. I asked the professor how I could have made it better, and he said "You couldn't have. I don't give perfect marks, since this is a social science, but you did the best in the class." As this class has 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years in it, I'm pretty pleased with myself.
:D

13/01/2010 (Rosie): A Well Rewarded Detour

Wednesdays are possibly my favourite weekday. I get off school an hour early, so I get home before sunset. Today I took advantage of this and took a detour through a local wet land, mainly to test out my new Gorrilapod and take some outfit photos for my style blog, Through the Wilderness.

As I wandered though, I happened upon this idyllic scene, and couldn't help but snap a few photos.

(And that is completely sans editing too.)

12/01/2010 (Findlay) : Dinner with Dad

I had a busy day for a time when I don't have any classes scheduled today. I went to a meeting with a professor (she didn't show up), spent time studying and following the news (I'm a politics/new junkie). then my Dad came from some meetings in town. He took me to a nice restaurant, and we had dinner and talked.

One of the things I talked about was the fact that most of the students in my global politics class said they were taking the class so they could either
A) Start to learn about the world, or
B) Learn enough to know what their parents were talking about.

I was homeschooled, and I'm very glad that I have the education and will to learn that I've actively pursued this knowledge, so I thanked my dad for that. I really appreciate my parents.

Anyway, this photo also has Blur. I've been using my roommates camera, which is a point-and-shoot with no settings on it. (I'm totally not copying Rosie.)

12/01/2010 (Rosie): Accidental Motion Blur

I have decided that I like Tuesdays. I have Envirothon meetings at lunch, and another one of the groups I am part of, the Costumes/Sets department for the school's theatre troop, meets after school.

I took today's picture at lunch, when one of the Envirothon members was erasing the board. I didn't mean for it to be motion blurred, but I think I like it.

In other news, Daddy picked me up after theatre today, and we went to Staples so he could get a computer mouse. Being me, I gravitated towards the cameras, and picked up a Gorillapod. I haven't really tried it out that much yet, but I might post a review once I've played with it a bit more.

11/01/2010 (Findlay) : Demolished buildings and second Christmas

Today, I woke up to my roommate Dominic, well, telling me to wake up. Our friends Lisa and Meredith had come to the house at 6:30ish in the morning, and left our christmas presents of food on our table, along with notes on our door! It was Splendid. All they left were the notes, and lots and lots of food.

Then I went to my first day of classes, and God, I love school. I'm excited for this semester.

And then on the way home, I passed this old school being demolished.

11/01/2010 (Rosie): Clementine on the Horizon

One of the only things I like about the winter months is that I am on the bus, headed home from school, when the sun sets. Some days the entire sky is like raspberry sherbet, others it's a freezing cold ultra pale blue that slowly gets darker. Today it looked like someone had stuck a super bright light inside a clementine, and then set it down on the horizon.

Everything was brighter and oranger in person, but I am really happy with how the picture turned out.

10/01/2010 (Findlay): Projects

Today was a fairly productive day, schoolwise. As well, I started on two projects. One was priming a massive canvas that my lovely sister got me for christmas. It's 48x36, and I used most of a tube of white acrylic on it. The other was rewiring a new light that I got. I do not know the technical name for the light, but it's red and neat.

I was worried I would die when I turned it on, as it involves me stripping extension cords for the wires. I lived however, and it turned out nicely.

School starts tomorrow. (Also, unlike my other pictures, this picture has no editing whatsoever.)

10/01/2010 (Rosie): Flying High

Today I did something I hadn't done in a very long time, I went to the play park. The last time I had been near a play structure was this summer when Findlay came to visit, but I was wearing an almost mini dress and three inch heels, so I couldn't actually play that much. Anyways, today I decided to bundle up and head down to the play park.

My favourite part has always been the swings. I love the feeling when you get going really high, and their is this little lurch where gravity doesn't seem quite so strong before you swing back.

I'm not super happy with this picture, I'm so sick of all this snow and cloudy weather, everything is so colourless! I find myself longing for green grass, blue skies, yellow dandelions, pink roses, everything coloured.

09/01/2010 (Rosie): Left Turn Ahead

I decided that since I spend all day at school during the week, and rarely see the sun or the outside at all, I had better make the most of it on the weekends. So this morning, after getting up ridiculously early (for a Saturday. It was only 9 am!), eating pancakes, and reading for a couple hours, I grabbed my camera and went for a walk.

This picture didn't turn out nearly as well as I wanted it too. In real life the sign was bright yellow, but for some reason in all my pictures, it is sort of orange. Come to think of it, a lot of the pictures had strange colours. I think it may have something to do with how bright it was.

09/01/2010 (Findlay) : Cats, Computer and the new setup

08/01/2010 (Rosie): Nobody's Listening

I've been feeling very pensive lately, bordering on melancholy, and I think my pictures are starting to reflect this.

So often I feel like I'm on the brink of saying something, but there is nobody listening. Not in day to day conversation, but like big picture say something. I know it is probably just the teenager in me acting up, but I have a right to be angsty sometimes!

Anyways, I found myself in my school's auditorium today, and couldn't resist snapping this shot. To be standing on the stage and looking out at the empty seats, well, that's how I've been feeling lately.

~Rosie

08/01/2010 (Findlay): Back at home

Well, after a 29 day Christmas break I am home in my apartment again. I had a lovely time with my mother puttering around Fredericton doing errands and what not before I got settled. I saw my cousin Ryan, went to the forestry building to drop off some stuff, and then moved a new table in as my desk. It's quite nice, and I'm enjoying it.

Anyway, my mother is a super cheerful person, and this photo captures that. It also captures all of her smile lines. She may not like them, but I love them on faces. I'm pretty disappointed I don't have any yet. They also make for wonderful photographs with depth.
(I also love my mother.)

07/02/2010 (Rosie): The Climb to Uncertainty

After Findlay's amazing photos of a book on fire, I thought that maybe I should step up my game a bit and go for something more than a quick picture of my back pack. So at lunch today I set out, camera in hand, in search of something interesting and vaguely artistic to photograph.

I have been toying with the idea of stairs for a while, ever since Amelia of Ambiguous Alliterative Abomination posted this series of photos. I thought about it, considered locations, colours, ect, for ages. Then today I took this picture:

I don't know why I decided to take a picture of these secluded stairs that lead to the english wing of my school, but I did. Then when I imported them on to the computer, it seemed natural to up the exposure. When I was looking at the finished picture, I figured it all out.

This picture pretty much embodies what I feel about life, and especially school right now. I'm always climbing, always working harder, putting in more effort, achieving more, but I don't know why. I can't figure out what it's all leading to. I don't know why I'm spending years of my life working towards a diploma, but to what end?

~Rosie

07/01/2010 (Findlay) : Dinner and Family

Today, I took my cousin Travis out to breakfast at 7:00 for Pancakes. It was his Christmas present from me. This year, instead of a conventional gift, I gave my cousins "Quality Time." I took Brianna out to Avatar last night, Jake to A&W, and Travis to an Irving Restaurant. I could have spent 20$ on a quick gift, but this was way nicer. I do love my cousins. For a big family, we get along really well. They're all awesome people.

Anyway, this night we had a dinner party as I'm going back to University tomorrow. So I took some pictures.

06/01/2010 (Findlay): Self-Awareness

Today, a couple of seemingly meaningless events came together inside my brain to create thoughts. I read Terry Pratchetts Nation and watched James Cameron's Avatar. I took my cousin Jake out to Dinner and my Cousin Brianna to Avatar.

Avatar was amazing, but the graphics are completed sidelined in my opinion. It is truly a movie about man, and his possibilities and his (or her) lowest depravity. James Cameron sold a story of how bad we can be for 100 million dollars. It is a testament to how weird humanity is sometimes.

However, the thoughts in my brain involved me and my beliefs. I changed tonight, and hopefully I can stay this way for the rest of my life. I did Chores for an hour tonight because I realized that the only reason life is all about suffering is so we can learn empathy. Unless you ever take initiative for doing chores, every chore you've ever done is worthless, because you haven't learned something. If you never learn how hard something is, you can never understand it. It is the "walking in another's shoes" and I may understand this more for the first time, other than as a cliche.

I changed some ideas about beliefs as well. I believe I can no longer call myself "Christian" because of the inherent claim that a Christian is Christ-like. I am nowhere near that. Until I believe I have achieved a level of kindness and generosity that I would attribute to my ideals of them, I will not use the term. Now I am just a believer. I believe in a higher power. I feel a connection with it, and every other truly religious person or believer may feel this connection. Who am I to deny them? And what truly loving God would create a people who weren't intelligent to not believe in them? Anyway.

I'll stop rambling.

Here's a picture of me, thinking.

06/01/2010 (Rosie): Filming in the Science Lab

In tech class today we worked on the videos we are filming, and I snapped this picture of my teammates working away in the science lab, shooting part of our commercial.

I have very little experience with photographing people, and I'm not sure how I feel about this picture. As you may have noticed, I sort of have a thing for detail shots and still lifes (or lives. Can you even say that when talking about pictures?). Personally, I think that they convey a lot more than wider shots. What are your thoughts on the subject?

05/01/2010 (Rosie): Thinking about Fauna

Today was yet another day at school. Which meant that I spent most of it half asleep, and part of it fully asleep. The one fun part of my day was lunch, because my absolute favourite club, Envirothon, had a meeting. Envirothon, for those of you who don't know, is an environmental science competition. Today we talked about fauna. Well, we were excited about potential workshops for a while, so by the time she gave us the sheet, it was too late to do anything, but we thought about learning about animals!

(And Findlay: I can't believe that you were mean about macro photography. It's only like the best kind!)

05/01/2010 (Findlay) : Ups and Downs

I realized today this is kind of like a dairy. Today, one of my ups was going to the library. I love the library, books, reading, and the people there. It was really nice.

The down is that I had some emotions bottled up, and they came out today, but the nice thing about that is I can actually solve some problems I've had for quite some time now. I feel like for the first time in years I've made movement towards personal maturity.

And because I do love the morning, here is a droplet of dew. It beat out a string of christmas lights and a picture of the library to make it here today. My friend Jessi (If she ever reads this) gets to say "I told you so," since I've chastised her for macro before. Forgive me Photography god(s)?

04/01/2010 (Rosie): Muumuus and school

Have you ever tried taking a picture on a moving school bus in semi darkness? Well, if you haven't, this is the probable result, with some editing added in.

back pack, leather, school bus @ Exposure Extraordinaire
It was back to school for me today, and it started badly. My bus was delayed by an hour, and I stood outside waiting for half of that time. The day improved steadily, with two good grades, a sale on my favourite brand of conditioner, an interesting conversation with Findlay, even if he thinks I wouldn't be able to pull off a Muumuu.

I changed the post name from my previous style as I realized Rosie had a much better idea of naming them. She's one brilliant lady.

Anyway, Today I drove the last member of our new years party home, after it dragged on two nights, then I went to Dan's. We played nerf gun games, and I took some pictures. He has a hobby of "modding" nerf guns where he takes them apart, makes them better, then paints them. It makes for some interesting games.

I'm off to play more games like the child I am.

03/01/2010 (Rosie): Exploding Laundry

Today I was forced to face up to the fact that I have school tomorrow. Which meant dealing with all the stuff I had been putting off for the past two weeks, like cleaning my desk, and doing laundry.

Laundry, chores @ Exposure Extraordinaire
It's probably a good thing I got around to doing the laundry, since my laundry basket was threatening to explode, not to mention I am wearing what was my last pair of clean socks. And I mean pair in the loosest sense of the word, my socks stopped matching around the 24th.

02/01/2010 (Rosie): The Girl Who Played With Fire

I'm ignoring the fact that I have to go back to school in a little more than a day, and spent most of today curled up by the fire with a book and some candies.

book, fire, girl, The Girl Who Played With Fire, Stieg Larsson, candies @ Exposure ExtraordinaireThis book is a sequel to The Girl With the Dragon tattoo, and they are both amazing. Despite being rather gripping, they are both long reads, and take a while to get started. I highly recommend checking them out though, my mother and I agree: they are awesome! (Also, this one includes several pages of shopping at Ikea, which is fun.)

Jan 2

We had a post-new years party last night, which ended up with us staying awake talking about politics and technology and futuristic possibilities until 4 am, which is "Today."

We had an amazing opportunity for pictures later when we played some board games, but I didn't think of it at the time (Being completely engulfed in the strategy of the games of course) so this will have to do.

There is a snowstorm outside, so tomorrow's picture will most likely be something "Weather-y"

Happy post-new year.

01/01/10 (Rosie): Skiing

It's January 1, 2010, and the first day of our challenge. So here is the first of my 365 photos for this year. Today we went skiing, and while everyone else sped off, I puttered along, taking photos, day dreaming, and looking at pretty trees.

I was pretty happy with how this photo turned out, I did a teensy bit of editing, brightening it up a bit, but this is pretty much what it looked like straight off my camera.

Thoughts?

January 1st, 2010.

I've been cleaning the house a bit for a party tonight, and in between reading a book and... reading a book while cleaning the bathroom, I remembered to take some photos.

We've been redoing the kitchen, and by "we" I mean my mother and father. It's extremely yellow. The walls are yellow, and the floor is this honey yellow colour at the moment. It's extremely bright and cheerful, unlike my father in this picture. (I actually don't know WHAT he was thinking when I took it. It's kind of a grimace.)

Here is the picture of Dad varnishing the floors. YAY dad.
