06/01/2010 (Rosie): Filming in the Science Lab

In tech class today we worked on the videos we are filming, and I snapped this picture of my teammates working away in the science lab, shooting part of our commercial.

I have very little experience with photographing people, and I'm not sure how I feel about this picture. As you may have noticed, I sort of have a thing for detail shots and still lifes (or lives. Can you even say that when talking about pictures?). Personally, I think that they convey a lot more than wider shots. What are your thoughts on the subject?

  1. Wide shots have a lot to offer, but it's a lot harder (in my opinion) to get one you're satisfied with. In still life and macro, you have a very limited area in the shot. It's a lot easier to get something you like with less to work with. Personally for people I like profiles or close up. I would have zoomed in on your classmate to the left, there's a lot more interesting to catch your eye over there.

    Hope that helps! :)
